Requirements to apply for IMV or child benefit supplement (CAPI)
To be able to apply for the Child Support Supplement, it is necessary to meet the following conditions:
- Having children under 18 years of age or older children with disabilities in your care.
- To be a beneficiary of the Minimum Living Income (IMV) or to meet the established income limits.
- To reside legally in Spain and to have done so continuously for at least 1 year prior to the application .
- To be registered at the usual address along with the minor beneficiaries.
- Have all documentation up to date (ID/NIE, family book, cohabitation certificate, etc.).
- The application can be submitted at any time of the year , provided that the cohabitation and income requirements are met.

Frequently asked questions about the childcare support supplement
It is a monthly financial aid that is granted for each minor member of the cohabitation unit, with the aim of reducing child poverty.
Cohabitation units that:
- Include minors among your members.
- Meet the requirements of the IMV or those established regarding income limits, net worth and asset tests specific to the supplement.
Income must be less than 300% of the thresholds established for guaranteed income according to the type of household. Net worth must be less than 150% of the limits set for applicable net worth according to the type of household.
You must apply for the IMV through the channels established by the National Social Security Institute (INSS), as the IMV application form also serves for the supplement.
From 2024 onwards, the monthly amounts are:
- Children under 3 years old: 115 euros .
- Ages 3-6: €80.50 .
- Between 6 and 18 years old: 57.50 euros .
No. If you already receive the Minimum Living Income (IMV) and have dependent children, the supplement will be automatically granted. If you do not receive the IMV, you can apply for the supplement by submitting an IMV application, as the form is valid for both benefits.
