Requirements for Online Registration of a Newborn
To register a newborn in Spain, the following is required:
- To have been born in Spanish territory or to have the official birth certificate.
- That the father, mother, or legal guardian is registered at the address where the baby will be registered.
- To present the mandatory documentation:
- Literal birth certificate or updated Family Book.
- ID card (DNI) or foreigner's ID number (NIE) of the parents or guardians.
- Proof of address (rental agreement, deed, or authorization from the owner).
- To go or submit the application at the corresponding town hall for the family address.
- To complete the registration within the first 30 days from birth or as soon as the official certificate is available.
