The multiple birth allowance is an additional benefit in which one of the two parents (we recommend choosing the one who earns more) receives aid of 1.5 times their salary.
Six more weeks of sick leave are paid in a single payment , despite not being entitled to rest for that period.

Application for Subsidy
To apply for the subsidy for multiple births or adoptions, the following conditions must be met:
👩👧👦 Having had two or more children in the same birth, or having adopted two or more minors simultaneously.
🧾 To reside legally in Spain and be registered in the national territory.
🪪 Have Spanish nationality or a valid residence permit.
💶 Do not exceed the income limits established by Social Security according to the number of children and members of the family unit.
📄 Submit the official documentation: birth or adoption certificates, family book, ID/NIE and financial receipts.
⏱️ Submit the application within 3 months of the birth or multiple adoption.

Frequently asked questions about the multiple birth allowance
This is a benefit provided by Social Security for multiple births where the parents are entitled to maternity or paternity leave. One of the two parents or adoptive parents (it must be decided beforehand which one will receive it) is entitled to a subsidy equivalent to 6 weeks of their contribution base. We recommend that it be requested in the name of the parent with the higher salary.
Either parent or adoptive parent can apply, provided they are entitled to maternity or paternity benefits.
The equivalent of 6 weeks of the contribution base of one of the two parents is paid in a single payment.
They are two different kinds of aid.
The subsidy is a Social Security benefit for anyone entitled to maternity or paternity benefits.
Multiple birth assistance is for all births or adoptions of two or more babies regardless of the parents' employment status.
The main requirements are:
- Number of children born is equal to or greater than two.
- To be entitled to maternity/paternity benefits (i.e., to be working or receiving unemployment benefits).
The special allowance for multiple births is requested once the babies have been born and can be done at the same time as the maternity or paternity leave is requested.
