Subsidy Application
To apply for the multiple birth or adoption benefit, the following conditions must be met:
👩👧👦 Having had two or more children in the same birth, or having adopted two or more minors simultaneously.
🧾 Residing legally in Spain and being registered in national territory.
🪪 Having Spanish nationality or a valid residence permit.
💶 Not exceeding the income limits established by Social Security according to the number of children and members of the family unit.
📄 Submitting official documentation: birth or adoption certificates, family book, DNI/NIE and economic supporting documents.
⏱️ Submitting the application within 3 months following the multiple birth or adoption.

Frequent questions about the multiple birth benefit
This is assistance provided by the Social Security for cases of multiple births where there is eligibility for maternity or paternity leave. One of the two parents or adopters (it must be chosen beforehand which of the two will receive it) is entitled to a subsidy equivalent to 6 weeks of their contribution base. Our recommendation is that it be requested in the name of the parent with the higher salary.
It can be requested by either parent or adoptive parent, as long as they are entitled to the maternity or paternity benefit.
A lump sum payment equivalent to 6 weeks of the contribution base of one of the two parents is charged.
These are two different types of aid.
The subsidy is a Social Security benefit for anyone entitled to maternity or paternity leave.
The multiple birth benefit is for all births or adoptions of two or more babies, regardless of the parents' employment status.
The main requirements are:
- Number of children born must be equal to or greater than two.
- Entitlement to maternity/paternity benefit (i.e., being employed or receiving unemployment benefit).
The special subsidy for multiple births is requested once the babies have been born and can be done at the same time as maternity or paternity leave is requested.
